The brexit had been voted in 2020 by the british population, they voted to exit the EU.

But life got complicated because people have families on both sides and need to pay more taxes to go on the other side, especially for the Irish people since their country got cut in two pieces; the Northern Ireland and the Ireland.

Some people had their jobs or schools on the other side, and the brexit made complicated for them to keep their jobs. 

Irish businesses importing or exporting goods to the UK now need to register for customs. Online consumers may have to pay VAT(value added tax), when purchasing from the UK, depending on the value origins of the goods. And also, the goods moving between Ireland and Northern Ireland will not have any customs and tariffs.

In 2019 and 2020, the EU and the Uk adopted several agreements governing their relations following the United Kingdom's departure from the EU.

Also signed in 2019, the "Northern Ireland Protocol" is the part of these agreements that concerns the special status granted to Northern Ireland. It takes into account the particular situation of the island of Ireland, now divided between a territory that is no longer part of the European Union, and another that remains an EU member state.

This protocol essentially aims to avoid the return of a physical border between the two Irelands, in order to protect the economy of the British Isles as well as the Good Friday Agreement.

The Northern Ireland Protocol also aims to preserve the integrity of the European single market. But since it came into force, it has been regularly challenged by the British.

To be honest, the Brexit was a decision against the will of the Northern Irish. In fact, 55.8% of the population of Northern Ireland voted in favour of remaining in the European Union.
