The ring of Kerry is a 179km circular route that goes around the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry in South Western Ireland, it takes in the towns of Killarney, Beaufort, Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Cahersiveen, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem, and Kenmare. "The Ring" is a popular day trip for tourists and sometimes Irish themselves. Numerous bus companies offer circuits during the summer months. As the narrow roads make it difficult for tour coaches to pass one another, all tour buses run in an anti-clockwise direction, travelling via Killorglin first.

For the people who enjoy taking their time visiting places, there is also an established walking path named The Kerry Way, which takes its own route, roughly following the scenic driving route of the Ring of Kerry. But also a signposted Ring of Kerry cycling path which uses older quieter roads where possible.

Some recommend that car owners travel in the opposite direction, going first to Kenmare to avoid delays caused by tour buses, while others advise travelling counter-clockwise to avoid having to pass the buses.

During that visit, you will come across Cahersiveen, sometimes Cahirciveen, a town that is part of the ring of Kerry. It is situated on the slopes of 376-metre-high Bentee, a hill, and on the lower course of the River Ferta. If you visit that town, you will come across evidence of ancient settlement in the area that includes a number of ring fort, holy well, ring barrow, and castle sites located in the townlands of Cahersiveen, Garranebane and Carhan.
